THIRUNARAIYUR
This temple is situated between Chidambaram and Kattumannar Koil. It is 16 kms away from Chidambaram.
History:
A Gandarvan had troubled Sage Dhurvasar when he was on penance. So the sage cursed him to become a Stork (NARAI), and that stork worshipped Lord Shiva on this temple so the name Thiru naraiyur.
Nambiyandar Nambi was born on this holy place. He worshipped the famous Vinayagar in this temple namely “Polla Pillaiyar”, who blessed him, which paved the way to find the Thevara Thirumuraigal at Chidambaram.
Thirunayana Samandhar & Thirunavukarasar have sung Thevara Hymns praising the Lord in this temple.
1) God – Soundaranathar.
2) Goddess – Thiripurasunthari.
3) Sthala Viruksham – Punnakam.
4) Theertham- Karunya Theertham.
Opposite to this temple home of Nambiyandar Nambi is present.

hi i am jayakumar from veeranatham,its located near thirunarraiyur. i am regularly come to visit pollapilaiyar at every month sangadakarasathurthi.
